‘Meadow in Autumn’ is a fine art oil painting by Alison C. Dibble. It is original, handmade, one-of-a-kind. It was painted outdoors, on site, on a cradled canvas (that is, the wooden stretcher bars are 1.7” deep so it can stand out from the wall and looks great without any frame), 24 inches high x 48 long. The scene is of a large field in Sedgwick, Maine, where a quiet stream flows through the low area and the turning leaves light up the maples across the vale. Many birds use this habitat, and in spring the bobolinks nest here. There was a barn at the roadside here for many decades but it slowly fell in, and eventually by the 1990s it was cleared away. The apple tree is testimony to the hopes and hard work of the farmers who came before. White-tailed deer will arrive in the predawn hours to dine on these fallen apples.
