‘Low Tide at Schoodic’ is an original oil painting by Alison C. Dibble, one-of-a-kind, handmade, 11 x 14 inches. It was painted on location in Acadia National Park, in Maine. The location is the Schoodic Peninsula, near Winter Harbor, and shows part of Moose Island on the left and Schoodic Point on the right in the distance. The tide is out, and one can walk across the wet rocks of the intertidal zone to explore Moose Island. But don’t lose track of the time because that tide is coming back in! If you miss your chance, you’re going to have to wait out on the island for hours. Or risk wading across in the cold sea water, but there are currents so this is extremely ill-advised. In this painting it is a lovely mild afternoon and there is nothing to worry about, all the time in the world to go explore the island and get back safely. Smell the salt air, enjoy the sunshine in this wild place.
