‘Coming Home the Back Way’ is an original fine art oil painting by Alison C. Dibble, painted in 2016. It is 11 x 14 inches, oil on canvas, in a simple frame. The event was in northern Maine, where I go to visit with my artist friend, and this is the back view of her neighbor’s farm. It’s starting to be cold weather and the cows are probably already in for the night; soon enough they’ll have to stay in all the time because it’s just more comfortable in the barn than out in the deep snow and bitter wind that comes up the valley. The trail that you see in the foreground, going back toward the buildings, is the path they take, about forty cows, ambling along single file to be milked.
