‘Peaches’, by Alison C. Dibble, is an original oil painting on canvas, 4x12 inches. It was 2021 and the pandemic meant that everyone was staying home. But I got some beautiful peaches and they just wanted to be remembered in a painting. So I set up a little still life arrangement out on the front porch and tried to get something going.
Meanwhile the hummingbirds were in full activity at the feeders, chasing each other past my head and coming to inspect me because I had on a red t-shirt. They made it clear that one of them should be in the painting too.
I wanted to keep it loose, the brush work relaxed, the colors happy. The feeling was one of cheer; could I convey that somehow? I’ll let you decide.
