Fine art watercolor painting. I found the tipping point for my canoe while obtaining the reference photos for this painting, and got rather wet.
July 3, a hot day, perfect for searching for a bee that is said to collect its nectar and pollen on water lily flowers. I got my canoe on the car, packed a lunch, and took the insect net and the camera out to a freshwater pond in Maine. While I was reaching for a mollusk in the water, I tipped my boat over and stood waist-deep in water and muck. Didn’t see the bee, but I got a decent photo of water lilies and later in the studio I laid on some ink-dark watercolors to contrast with the luminous flower.
