The Cuckolds Light
$1,000.00
Year after year, despite raging storms, the lighthouse does its job. No matter the conditions, the lighthouse can be counted upon.
Description
The Cuckolds Light is a lighthouse in Maine. It was painted by Alison C. Dibble, and is original, one-of-a-kind, oil on a cradled gessobord panel, 11 x 14 inches (28 x 35.6 cm). It is not in a frame (though it can be framed), and is ready to hang. The price ($1000 USD) includes shipping within the lower 48 states of the USA*.
This is one of my favorite lighthouses on the coast of Maine (that’s saying something!), though I have not yet visited it. The day I painted this, I was with my friend in East Boothbay and I chose to paint this lighthouse even though it was at least 15 miles away over mostly calm ocean waters. I looked through the binoculars, memorized, then looked down to sketch what I had seen. Then I took another look, put some paint on the panel, and went back and forth like this until I had my design worked out. The colors were muted, more or less matching what I could see. I used my painting knife and a well-traveled brush to help tell the story.
