$1,000.00

Cheers! Celebrating the Maine lobster, one of the tastiest of all wild caught animals.

Description

Lobster dinner by Alison C. Dibble is an original oil painting, one-of-a-kind. This is 14 x 11 inches (35.6 x 28 cm), on panel, in a heavy gold plein air frame, and is ready to hang. Price ($1000 USD) includes packing, handling and shipping to the lower 48 states of the USA.*

I was the lucky one to come along when these two huge hard shell lobsters were available from a local fisherman. He had brought them to the parking lot in our town to sell during the early months of the pandemic, when the market for Maine lobsters was way down. It was an expense that I thought well worth it, but not just for the eating. First I painted the lobsters alive, then I boiled them, and then I painted them again. Finally, I made lobster macaroni and cheese and put some in the freezer, and gave some to friends. All in all, a worthwhile purchase!

This painting depicts a cheerful celebration, with champagne and butter to accompany the lobster. I left the brushwork loose, and stopped before I overworked it.
