In the Trees by Alison C. Dibble, cold wax and oil paint, 8 x 10 inches.
Description
The wind is blowing, the leaves are rustling against each other like a gentle sighing. Oh, summer, please don’t hurry along so fast.
In the Trees is an original fine art painting in cold wax and oil paint, 8 x 10 inches, by Alison C. Dibble.
The process involved staining the canvas with acrylic paint, then applying a few brisk strokes of oil crayon to hold the design. Then I apply brightly colored oil paint mixed with cold wax (a pharmaceutical grade white bees wax that adds texture but does not affect colors). I let that dry, then put on a layer with some dull colors (oil paint). Immediately I scraped using tools of varying widths. Then I added yet more cold wax and oil paint. This dries, then the final layer is a thin coat that is largely wax. You can probably see the progression of fat over lean, you artists will know about that. All this hardens over some weeks, then I buff it with a soft cloth to bring out a subtle glow.
In the Trees is offered unframed. The panel is about 1/4-inch thick and it will fit handily in a frame or can be attached to a cradled block with white or black painted edges so that it has a 3-D aspect on the wall. The price includes shipping within the continental U.S. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this painting goes to charity.
