Green Island, original painting by Alison C. Dibble, oil on panel, 5 x 7 inches
East Boothbay, Maine: the fog lay upon the ocean like a rug. And then the atmosphere changed, the fog drew back, and Green Island could be seen near where I was painting. Could I find just the right gray green? I added a stroke from one side of the painting to another across the water, the way Charles H. Woodbury might have done, and that was like frosting a cake.
