Dried kiwi on threads
Winters are long in Maine. But the day goes fast if I set up an outdoor still life and paint it through the window.
Description
Dried kiwi on threads is an abstract painting of a still life arrangement. It is an original fine art oil painting, one-of-a-kind, by Alison C. Dibble, oil on canvas, 16 x 20 inches. It has already found a home. Thank you.
To paint food is another way to appreciate it and to be thankful. A few years ago I had some dried kiwi slices; the contrast between the green fruit and the black seeds made a compelling subject. On a winter day, to develop something quite different from my usual subjects, I threaded a few of the kiwi slices and suspended them from a stick that I then hung from the balcony. In the background were pine and spruce trees, and snow. Then I painted quickly, without worrying about whether this would look real, even though it was.
