Of all the magnificent fall foliage scenery in New England, the colors of the wild blueberry fields in October must be at the top of the list for many of us. Even we who live near the fields, and see them every year, can hardly believe the gorgeous colors.
One day I went out along a rural road to check one of my favorite fields, and found it looking particularly red and beautiful. So I set up my easel and painted it quickly. The large granite boulders took the role of a muted foil to the brilliant colors of the blueberry foliage.
